Remote Learning Resources

Thank you for being such a wonderful partner in your child’s education. Your child’s teacher will guide you through the transition to remote learning so that your child will quickly adapt, and thrive in this new learning environment. On the Learn at Home page you will find three important and related areas for parents: Information, Activities, and Technical Tools and Support.

To keep students connected and meeting academic requirements when learning remotely, the DOE has created student accounts for every single New York City public school student, including 3K and Pre-K students. The account gives your student access to Google Classroom and Microsoft Office 365, through the Remote Learning Portal .

NYC Schools Account

Did you know that you can track your child’s education on any computer, phone, or tablet? The NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is an app that lets you see your student’s grades, attendance, fitness results, schedule, and more from anywhere and in all DOE languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu. We encourage you to use these activities for students and families to connect with your child or children while they are at home. There are resources for students in all grades, from Early Learn through elementary and middle school, and for high school.

Device Requests & Technical Support for Families

Remote Learning Device Request

To help students stay connected during emergencies, the DOE is lending internet-enabled iPads to support remote learning for students. If you would like to request a device for a NYC student in your family, please fill out this form . There is a limit of one device per student. There is no deadline for this request, please fill out the form today to get a device for your child.

For students that have not signed the device agreement form or would like to cancel their request here .

Please note that the DOE will never ask for any payment in response to this request.

Technical Support for Families

Families (or someone on their behalf) can submit requests for technical support for a broad range of issues, including application support, lost, stolen, or broken devices, and delivery status, though the Technical Support for Families page.

Additional Resources for Families Teach from Home

Thanks to the tremendous work teachers have done to ensure student success in this new remote learning environment, NYC public school learning landscape is being completely transformed for the safety and continued learning of our 1.1 million students. Teach From Home : (requires sign in) a new section of the InfoHub​ that will have up to date information, including announcements and updates on professional learning opportunities.

Teaching Resources for Staff

All members of our school communities are encouraged to regularly visit schools.nyc.gov/learnathome to access the most current learning resources and important information for engaging in remote instruction.

The TeachHUB (requires sign in) contains links to applications and programs for a variety of online instructional resources, including Grade Band Instructional Resources in all subject areas.

Additionally, the DOE has compiled a range of professional learning sessions to learn different platforms and technologies to support remote learning. Activities for Students

We encourage you to use this time to continue your student’s learning while they are at home. To help students engage in educational material, the DOE has shared activity resources for students in all grades, from Early Learn through elementary and middle school, and for high school.

DOE Unified Workspace

The DOE Unified Workspace is an online portal that contains links to frequently used DOE systems, applications, and websites, like Cybershift, HR Connect, and others. Users can access all of the DOE systems from one location, from a remote online device.

The Unified Workspace also gives you access to non-browser-based applications like ATS, STARS Client, and LCGMS. These particular apps are located in the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD), which is inside the Unified Workspace. The WVD is available to all administrative staff, principals, assistant principals, and staff who use STARS. For instructions on how to get to the WVD through the Unified Workspace, visit the InfoHub . You do not need VPN or special credentials to access the Unified Workspace. All you need is your existing DOE (@schools.nyc.gov) credentials.

Technical Support Resources for Employees Teach From Home Technology

The Teach from Home Technology page is dedicated to helping DOE teachers, staff, and related services providers have the knowledge they need to effectively use DOE-approved virtual conferencing and remote learning tools.

The Tech Helpdesk is available to staff, students, and parents during this COVID-19 shift to remote learning. If technical support is needed (logging in, printing, smartboards, telephone problems, internet connectivity, etc.)

Recommended Applications Google Classroom

Level : Elementary, Middle, and High School

Classroom is a free web-based platform that integrates your Google Apps for Education account with all your Google Apps services, including Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.

Tip: Adding an announcement a good way to communicate with your class and give them up-to-date information. Click the “Announcement” button to display a message to your class. You can even attach files (from Google Drive and otherwise), add YouTube videos and provide links. If you assign an activity outside of Classroom, you can link to it in an announcement so there’s a record of it in your class.
